  Warm greetings to everyone,   This year, there is a huge demand for all types of  blood  in the  blood  banks. After realizing there was a constant need for  blood , the DWIT Social Service Club organized  Blood   Donation   2022  on October 21,  2022  (Friday), on the DWIT premises, in collaboration with the Lions & Leo Club of Kathmandu Chabahil city and with technical support from Grande Hospital.   There was an overwhelming response from the students, faculties, and members of the Deerwalk.  The event started at 1 pm. All the arrangements were made by the volunteers and club members. The willing  donors  who attended to  donate  their  blood  had to fill out a form with general information first, and then doctors examined their  blood  pressure and physical condition. Hello Everyone,   We hope you all are doing well.   The Social Service Club came up with the idea of gathering used  clothing , refashioning it, and then donating it due to the concern about the environmental effects of the fast fashion industry.     We are pleased to inform you that we have completed the second phase of the project by  collecting  the clothes from Manaslu College, Noble College, and Arunima College.    We reassure everyone that the club will contribute every money earned to benefit people in need.   We have attached some pictures below:  

Being mindful of the impact on the environment due to the fast fashion industry, the members of Social Service Club came up with the concept of collecting old clothes, refashioning and donating them. Unlike our previous old jeans collection that revolved around the college, this time we have planned to take a step further and get other schools and colleges involved. We are planning to do this project in different phases. The first phase includes giving presentations to different colleges explaining our intentions and plans for collecting those clothes. The second phase includes collecting old clothes and dry cleaning them. Followed by the third phase which includes segregating those clothes for thrifting and donation. The fourth phase includes selling the thrift items and the final phase is field visit for donation.   The  Social Service Club , in collaboration with the  DWIT Music Club ,  conducted an event  'Musical Day with Children'  on 27th August 2022. We spent some time with the children at the 'Sarita Bhawan' orphanage where we played games and sang songs for the children. The selected participants assembled at the college premises at 11:15 a.m and departed at around 11:30 a.m. We reached the orphanage at noon. Altogether there were 9 children and their ages ranged from 8 to 15 years old. We then gathered the children in a room and sat together in a circle. The excited children introduced themselves to us and so did we. After the introduction was over, we sang songs for them and they enthusiastically sang along with us. On 17th August, 2022 DWIT Social Service Club successfully conducted an  Editing Workshop  for the club members. The workshop began at 4:30 PM and ended at around 6:20 PM. During this time, the members familiarized themselves with Adobe Premiere Pro and learned about basic tools and techniques about editing. The Workshop was mentored by  Serena Dangi (Class of 2024)  who focused on providing basic concepts about video editing to the members.The DWIT Holi video was taken as a reference for this workshop. At the end of the workshop, mentor Serena attended all the doubts and queries of club members. The Club would like to thank her for taking the time to assist the members. DWIT Social Service Club successfully conducted  Adobe Illustrator  Workshop  for the members on  the 19th of July.  Under the mentorship of  Prabish Dangi(Class of 2024)  the club members learned the fundamentals of Adobe Illustrator and designing techniques. The  workshop  began at around 4:20 PM where we were familiarized with the basic tools of Adobe Illustrator. After learning about logo tracing and dropping shadows, we replicated the Google Chrome and Instagram logos. We were also asked to choose a photo of our own choice to create the vector image using illustrator. Additionally, several banner design strategies and ideas were also discussed.   With proper coordination with Prabish Dangi, the  Social Service Club  completed the  workshop  wonderfully.
